Southern Learning Series: Thyme for Fig Shrub! - August 25th, 2024

Learn to make a delicious, old fashioned sipping vinegar called Shrub! We’ll be using fresh local figs, sugar, herbs and organic vinegar to create your fermentation. You’ll use the tasty syrup in homemade soda pop, craft cocktails, delicious mocktails, or as a daily tummy digestive! We’ll talk about basic fruit fermentation, we’ll taste various flavors of shrubs, and you’ll make your very own batch of fig thyme shrub to take home and bottle!

Parking:
There are a few spots in the driveway, and there is street parking on the West side of the street (across from the Turlington House).

Note:
The class involves supervised handling of knives (for prepping the ingredients). We will be standing quite a bit, but stools are provided. We follow safe fermentation and canning practices, and plenty of information resources and instructions will be provided. Participation is voluntary and at your own risk. We are not responsible for improper storage. Please inform us of any food allergies or special needs via email, prior to class.

We may also snap a few pictures or short clips of video during class to promote future classes. By attending, you give us permission to do so. If you are highly opposed, just let us know before we get started.

If you have food allergies, or require wheelchair access, please let us know in advance via email so that we can best accommodate your needs.

*Because we pre purchase your supplies and ingredients, classes are not refundable. However, if you are unable to attend, please provide 48 hour notice and we can exchange your class for another date that’s available.
