Southern Learning Series: Blue Ribbon Pickled Peppers - June 30th, 2024

Y’all come and make the pickled pepper recipe that won a blue ribbon at the Iredell County Fair! In class you’ll customize your own mild, medium or hot blend of peppers to enjoy on burgers, brats and more. Not only are they pretty in your pantry, they are delicious all year round. You’ll learn to prepare your canning jars and use basic water bath canning techniques to make them shelf stable. Take home 2 pints of the peppers you pack. And why not enter them yourself in this year’s County Fair? Price includes all ingredients, instruction, beverages and lunch.

Parking:
There are a few spots in the driveway, and there is street parking on the West side of the street (across from the Turlington House).
Note:
The class involves supervised knife handling (for chopping ingredients), spicy peppers and the handling of hot jars and liquid. Gloves and aprons will be provided. Participation is voluntary and at your own risk. We will be standing quite a bit, but stools are available. We follow safe canning practices, and you will be given resources for information on food preservation to take home. We are not responsible for improper storage of your canned goods, or what happens in your own kitchen.
We may also snap a few pictures or short clips of video during class to promote future classes. By attending, you give us permission to do so. If you are highly opposed, just let us know before we get started.
